About Nere
Nere was born a child of war, in 1936 Basque Country. In 1945, she and her family emigrated to Venezuela where she was raised, pursued a successful career in economics, got married, and fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a mother to many children. In 1977 she found herself at a crossroads—her marriage ended, and her successful career had not brought her inner contentment—so she moved temporarily to the United States with her five kids to pursue a Ph.D. in Human Behavior and Leadership. However, she realized that even more important than another advanced degree, her highest goal was to find inner peace. That decision began to drive all other decisions as she embarked on her own journey, not only across physical continents, but across the continent of her own heart.
Nere discovered that living in peace is possible. And when she did, she turned her attention to the world at large, aspiring to share this peace with others. She worked as a psychotherapist for individuals and groups in the USA and Venezuela for more than ten years. Later, she became a conflict resolution mediator and actively worked to create a Department of Peace in our federal government.
Her book, The Missing Peace, is the fruit of her journey. It is her heart's desire to inspire her fellow humans to live an authentic life that includes peace as their most treasured and indispensable ingredient—like an umbrella, firmly planted, covering and protecting all.
